Native Habitat:  Amazon River basin, Brazil
Temperament:   Generally peaceful for a cichlid, but will become territorial when breeding and raising fry.
Feeding:   Thawed frozen and live adult brine shrimp, newly hatched brine shrimp nauplii, bloodworms, beef heart, small pieces of water packed tuna, and other small live worms.
Sexing:   Only they and God know for sure
General Comment:
Discus, like angelfish (Scalare) are cichlids which come from the Amazon River in South America.  Not recommended for the beginner aquarist, certainly regarding attempting to breed and raise fry.

You can view the many strains and color morphs of Discus from the brown to green to blue to red and everything between.  For more information about Discus, please visit our the Membership Section.
